a little about how this came together…
Logan very recently moved to LA from Denver after having her own chair at a salon and decided to come out here to pursue a career in print. She needed to start her portfolio and I was more than happy to help! I was introduced to her by a really sweet girl, that I met at an event supporting Children Uniting Nations, named Affy who used to style in London but is now working in costumes for film and tv. Logan sent me an email on Wednesday and we shot on Sunday… super spontaneous, and loved every second of it!

i’ve blogged about comme before and commented on how I love the way watanabe and kawakubo liberally mix materials and fabrics in their collections. just wanted to blog about this shirt from the collection that I would love to own myself.
I find GREAT joy in details.

did a beauty shoot test tonight and the models were dancers so I insisted on shooting one of them in a non-beauty setting against my wall before they ran out the door.

i love my diana mini.
I’ve pretty much fallen in love with film but it’s not friends with my wallet so there’s a lot of tension that I have to deal with there. Regardless, I decided to bring my Pentax K1000 with me to Vegas for my friend’s birthday party. We were lucky enough to be celebrating in a pimp suite at the Encore…here are some moments I caught on film. Happy Birthday Eric!

merry christmas! the end of 2009 is fast approaching and I definitely need to sit down and set goals for the new year and continue to move forward in photography.
In the same vain of learning through observation, I’ve also learned from studying all the photos I look at everyday in magazines, on billboards, at bus stops, as well as really paying attention to lighting in films. Melissa Rodwell once told me she was able to learn a lot by observing lighting in film so I’ve been more aware of that and noticing how it contributes to mood and drama. Because I constantly want to be looking at amazing images, I’ve been wanting to create an inspiration board. I was looking for a solution that would be cheap (corkboards the size of my wall can cost over $150) and the least damaging to my wall. Ideas:
narciso rodriguez’s (from nytimes)
